Case Study: Specter – Touch Solutions for Outdoor Use

Challenge:

Specter, a Belgian electric bike brand, faced significant issues with the performance of their touchscreens and displays. The existing screens were difficult to read in direct sunlight and not resistant to UV radiation, leading to a suboptimal user experience for cyclists. The touchscreens exhibited false detections and were unresponsive in rainy conditions and when used with gloves.

Solution by ClickTouch:

As specialists in HMI solutions, ClickTouch provided a custom touch-display solution with customised firmware fully suitable for outdoor use. Our solution included:

  • Custom Touch on Display: A display that is highly readable in direct sunlight and resistant to UV radiation, ensuring optimal visibility under all weather conditions.
  • Optical Bonding: Through optical bonding, the display became fully readable in sunlight, enhancing readability and minimizing reflections.
  • Firmware Development: Our team developed the necessary firmware to ensure the touchscreen’s functionality in outdoor environments and seamless integration with Specter’s existing systems.
  • Rapid Service and Prototyping: Thanks to our efficient processes, we were able to deliver prototypes quickly, allowing Specter to test the product promptly and provide feedback.
  • Complete Customer Support: We managed the supply of custom glass, touchscreen, optical bonding, and the display, resulting in an integrated and reliable solution.
  • Graphical User Interface (GUI): In collaboration with our partner, we developed an intuitive and user-friendly graphical interface, enhancing the overall riding experience.

Result:

With this integrated solution, Specter now has a display that functions perfectly under all conditions, significantly improving the overall user experience. Cyclists can now rely on a clear and dependable display, regardless of the weather or environment.

This collaboration highlights ClickTouch’s expertise in delivering customized HMI solutions that meet the specific needs of our clients.
